The wallytender concept was developed as a standalone runabout in its own right, ideal for day or overnight cruising and not just as a support vessel for a larger yacht or private villa. As such, it opened up a market for large tenders that previously did not exist. The new 48 wallytender takes this unique onboard experience a step further with new amenities and features. What remains the same, however, are the stylish solutions that define the Wally approach to combining form with function, which are applied to every detail of the lightweight composite construction.

In short, like its predecessor, the 48 wallytender is swift, stylish, spacious and safe. Only more so.

More space, more amenities

The most noticeable development is the larger interior volume that offers more comfort and increased functionality. The challenge revolved around raising the freeboard without losing the purity of the hull lines associated with all Wally yachts. in order to provide a true cabin for an afternoon nap, and a real shower cubicle to freshen up comfortably.

A standout feature developed from the 118 wallypower opening bulwark innovation, are the fold-down bulwark sections to increase the size of the swim platform, which is served by a retractable passarelle that doubles as a 5-step swim ladder.

On deck, the layout has been designed to let family and friends relax in convivial comfort by sinking into the generous seating and sunbeds, and enjoy al fresco dining thanks to the galley unit equipped with two cooking rings, a sink and two fridges (one inside and one outside).

Comfort at anchor and under way

While under way, the aft seating of the 48 wallytender can be configured to face forward and when at anchor to face the dining table. The entire aft sunbed can be raised to access the engine compartment, or just the top section that has storage space underneath. There is more storage under the forward sunbed and even a locker for water toys such as an inflatable SUP and the scuba equipment in the unit behind the helm seating.

In addition to the hardtop, both the foredeck and the aft deck can be protected from the sun under awnings supported by carbon fibre pillars (also stored in the SUP locker).

A special anchoring system with an extending arm to simplify anchor operations, is hidden behind a flush-fitting hatch in the bow and can be operated at the touch of a button from the helm station. The pronounced trademark wraparound fender provides a practical docking solution instead of bulky fenders.

The standard propulsion package of the 48 wallytender comprises the new Volvo IPS 650 engines (twin totalling 960 hp) with user-friendly joystick controls for a top speed of 38 knots.

The first unit, currently under construction, will be launched in June 2019.
